Senior Administrator Job in Medical Instructional Design and Medical LMS with KHALIFA UNIVERSITY

Purpose of the position

The Senior Administrator – Medical Instructional Design and Medical LMS provides oversight of the installation. Configuration, operation and maintenance of systems specific to learning technologies and instructional design in CMHS.

Key roles and responsibilities

Strategic responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the CMHS IT strategy, as well as annual business plans.
  • Contribute to the development of CMHS policies and procedures, consistent with the University’s overall business objectives, ensuring that they promote best practice and excellence, particularly in the area of ​​computer systems used in the medical education.
  • Contribute to the development and management of CMHS IT budgets and report in a timely manner to ensure discrepancies are addressed promptly.

Operational responsibilities

  • Act as an advisor to CMHS IT leadership on issues related to medical learning systems and technologies for instructional design.
  • Explore, identify and propose functional improvements and integration to facilitate an effective educational program for CMHS based on learning needs
  • Guide, coordinate and provide support services related to medical teaching and education technologies to meet CMHS requirements and service levels, including learning management platform, collaboration tools, systems classroom audiovisuals and related software
  • Engage with other CMHS departments to provide user-friendly, accessible and reliable system solutions that meet CMHS needs.
  • Guide and coordinate the design, implementation and maintenance of new instructional technologies and instructional software as well as the online delivery of content, based on CMHS curriculum information.
  • Ensure required systems for instructional design are in place and provide support to the instructional design team.
  • Ensure the integration of systems related to learning systems with KU systems, where applicable.
  • Assist and provide ongoing support to CMHS faculty and students in the use of current learning and teaching technologies to achieve program goals
  • Review and gather information documenting method, resources, and effectiveness of instructional technologies and support services, interpret information, and provide constructive feedback and recommendations as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with end users (CMHS departments) to analyze, understand and document process expectations, information needs and functional requirements. Facilitate workshops and focus groups on LMS and instructional design related activities
  • Review, evaluate and analyze end-user business requirements, available software packages, effectiveness and efficiency of existing applications, and develop functional specification/design applications related to learning technologies in CMHS.
  • Perform testing and participation activities based on the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process for various applications related to learning technologies.
  • Recommend and provide applicable tutorials, training sessions, manuals and guidelines on the appropriate use of learning and teaching technologies.
  • Support IT standards, policies and procedures and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with Ankabut/University information security policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Perform other duties and functions assigned by supervisor as may be required from time to time in order to meet role requirements and Ankabut objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring as needed to enhance internal team capabilities and ensure achievement of established goals and plans


Qualifications and experience

Qualifications required

A Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent. A master’s degree in the relevant field

discipline would be a plus.

Experience required

  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the IT field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience administering learning management systems in an academic environment. Particular attention will be paid to systems used in medical education.
